About Us

What is the PPA?

• Educational, nonprofit organization to promote excellence in journalism
• Includes 50 member newspapers in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains, Oklahoma Panhandle, Southern Kansas and Eastern New Mexico
• Sponsors educational seminars for students and member newspapers
• Offers scholarships for high school seniors planning to major in journalism
• Supports the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas
• Offers an annual convention in Amarillo
• Conducts an annual Better Newspaper Contest with plaques and certificates for newspapers that place
• Includes a Hall of Fame to honor outstanding lifetime achievement in journalism
